About: Phil-Butler Unplugged

Phil-Butler Unplugged is a weblog that provides a unique outlook on a wide range of topics and issues. From news and politics to technology and social issues, the focus here is on what “is” important rather than what we are told is. So many niche sites do a very good job of targeting subject matter to present their readers, but their “tuned” focus so often limits their ability to shift topics to suit their readers.

Unplugged is not “tied” to mainstream thinking or conventional wisdom, nor is it obligated or approachable by any but the most sincere sponsors or influences. Being “unplugged” means, in a very real sense, being free to explore questions and answers from many divergent angles.

Phil Butler Unplugged began publication on November 8, 2007. Phil Butler - the editor – has written for several notable Web 2.0 and technology blogs including: Profy, Mashable and ReadWriteWeb among others. He has covered some of the most notable news and analysis news of Web 2.0.

About Phil Butler
I am a native of Charleston, SC and also graduated from the College of Charleston with a BA in Political Science. A past process engineer for several Fortune 500 companies, I started doing technical writing early in my career. The Web 2.0 technical blog Profy has been a passion of mine this last year, and through that great platform I have met some of the most talented and interesting people on the Web.

My focus has been on startups and commentary this year at Profy and also at the other very fine blogs mentioned. This latest adventure in writing and collaboration is out of my desire to genuinely affect change and also to help inform readers about issues both in and outside of tech news. I have tested over 300 startups and reviewed some of our most fantastic innovations. It is just about time to apply all these collaborations and new Web dynamics to even more critical issues.
