The Magnificent Seven of StumbleUpon

StumbleUpon is without a doubt the richest social discovery website on the planet. I have outlined how and why I believe this service should and will eventually dominate many of the other sites in the near future, but outside the utility of Stumble the greatest assets there are those of the people. This week I thought we should take a look at some of these amazing folks, not necessarily the “top stumblers”, but without doubt magnificent ones. So without further adieu here there are – a magnificent seven from Stumble.

Rob Image.Rjj – Otherwise just plain Rob, is not only a talented writer and collector/aficionado of all things science and technical, but one heck a a great human being. Rob is a fairly tireless Stumbler who never fails to lend a kind word, a helping hand or offer some of the best “stumbles” at just the right time. People like Rob are what make StumbleUpon light years ahead of other networks. Rob has a great website that everyone should visit; http://rj3sp.blogspot.com/. Thanks for all you do Rob – really.

Andy Beard.Andy Beard – Andy is a marketing guru and SEO expert who loves Wordpress and the Internet. Well, that is not all Andy loves but these passions are evident in everything Andy does in the Web sphere. I think of Andy as the “go to man” whenever I want a candid, educated answer to a question or an opinion on any content. Andy is always there, and that says a lot in a world where no one has the time of day. Andy has one of the best niche marketing blogs on the Web: http://andybeard.eu/. We all appreciate Andy and Stumble would be far less bright without this extraordinary fellow aboard.

braveheart image.Braveheart – David is a social media expert and one of the most prolific stumblers in my opinion. David never takes advantage and always recommends quality content. I love straightforward and responsive people and David is never presumptuous and he is always supportive – without people like this, none of us would feel at home on Stumbled. David manages the blog Social Media Optimization and owns Braveheart Design.

pearlofagirl.Akapearlofafgirl – Pearl will slap me for this but she is something of an enigma. There are not too many people on StumbleUpon as prolific nor as giving as she. She essentially inhabits SU like it was her own, and she is always resident in comments across the Web where an intuitive and kind voice needs to be heard. About the best thing I can think of to say about Pearl (without sounding too biased) is that: “if you don’t like Pearl, there is something wrong with you.” She is another magnificent stumbler that adds greatly to the community.

rustycat image.Rustycat – Is a super cool dude from Tel Aviv, Israel who is out to make friends and who is always a friend. CAT, as I call him, owns Rusty Records and manages the highly rated blog The Plugg, a superb music and entertainment community. I always smile when I receive a message from CAT as there is usually good music on the other end of it. If you need an outlet or a break from the tedium, check this stumbler out – CAT is another jewel in the crown of the Stumble community.

meg image.MegT – Meg is the consummate Australian woman – honest, frank, intelligent and dedicated. I remember seeing her when I first came to SU. She is passionate about social media, Australia and its Internet community, startups and everything Web 2.0. I would have to say that if had to can count on anyone’s opinon, listening to Meg would never carry you too far astray. Meg manages the highly influential blog – Dipping Into the Blog Pond. She is also very humble and will rake me for writing this.

lucecornerLucecorner – My friend Luce is such a gem. If kindness were water Luce would be the Pacific Ocean, really. Her idea of paradise is a place where people are nice (like her), families are loyal (I am not familiar with this concept), the music is Jazz (ok we don’t agree on everything) and the season is fall. Such genuine and responsive people obviously abound all around us, but hardly any place more openly than SU. Luce, If everyone were as kind as you the world would have no problems at all. You should check out Lucecorner’s forum – The Atheist’s Toolbox - and add this gal as a friend if you really need one, she has been one to me.

Magnificent are these seven great people and professionals. For those of you not made infamous by this post – fear not, as I have plans for each of you including: “The Dirty Dozen of Stumbling” and other high class offerings to shamelessly brag on my friends. If it ads any credibility to my attempt to recognize the best of the Web here, I did not include a literal angel of mine in this article. She refused to be recognized any further if that says anything about SU and its wonderful inhabitants. So, check out these super cool people your next time at SU, and be amazed as I have been at the depth of personality there.

  2. Matthew! I thought about making it “The Magnificent Friends of Phil” but somehow it did not sing like the current title. Stay tuned for “The Dirty Dozen of SU”, “20,000 Stumblers Under the Sea” and other one hit wonders.

Seriously, I love calling attention to great people and look forward to writing about you too. I was edited out of Profy for doing people stories so I decided to do it on my blog.

    Always,

    Phil

  3. For the uninitiated you should have linked to the pages and not the about - hate to think someone made the about page and didn’t get what s/u is about. (seems you alternated how you linked but you know some folks still don’t do tabs)

  4. Hi JC…you are very right, I should not have alternated. I will go back and make the links properly. Thank you so much for caring.

    Always - Phil

  5. I need to click that pages waiting more often… I am not stumbling as much as I used to because of page load times on my “worse than dialup” connection.
My reputation management alerts have also not been read for a few days.

I do try to make myself available as much as possible, though try to avoid the “guru” or “expert” moniker
